(Manchester, NH) September 29, 2012 – Flooring America, the leading provider of floor covering across North America, has raised nearly $50,000 to support Pets for Patriots, a national nonprofit that delivers the healing power of at-risk shelter pets to veteran and service members of the United States military. The donation is helping Pets for Patriots in their mission to liberate hard-to-adopt shelter animals from near-certain death while providing military personnel with new best friends.
The donation comes as part of Flooring America and Pets for Patriots’ partnership, which began in April of this year. Flooring America teamed up with Pets for Patriots because the organization’s mission is well-aligned with the core values of its more than 550 independent retailers—a commitment to community, patriotism and giving back to those who served our country. Flooring America’s goal is to raise $250,000 for the nonprofit.
“Flooring America’s financial commitment will allow us to give hundreds of last-chance pets a second chance at life, and transform the lives of our military men and women in real and meaningful ways,” says Beth Zimmerman, founder and executive director of Pets for Patriots. “We’re grateful to Flooring America for their commitment to give back to military personnel and, in so doing, to save the lives of pet and person. And we’re honored that so many independent Flooring America store owners are championing our cause within their own communities.”
Thirty thousand dollars of the nearly $50,000 total was donated at Flooring America’s convention, where Flooring America’s Vice President of Marketing, Frank Chiera, introduced Flooring America members to Mario and Kona, the second of nearly two hundred honorable adoptions Pets for Patriots has been privileged to make possible.
“Mario and Kona have a moving story and it was important to us to share it with our members,” said Chiera. “Stories like theirs are what make Pets for Patriots’ cause so close to our heart and the reason we strive to grow our donation.”
